This week in Room 9...

We have made a giant ladybird. Each spot has a different fact about ladybirds on it. We have made a wonderings garden. It has all our questions in it. Some of our questions are; How does a bee make honey? How far can insects fly?

Monday

For the last few weeks, Room 9 has been learning about minibeasts. Each Tuesday, when Mr Martin comes, some people get to write some facts we have learnt that week on the blog. So far we have learnt about butterflies, ladybirds, cicadas, bees and spiders. We have made some cool artwork, of us as insects. We also have a garden on the wall with our wonderings in it. Come in and have a look!

We are learning about minibeasts.

Queen honey bees lay 1000 eggs a day. All worker bees are female. All drones are male. The bees stir the honey with their tongue. Bees collect nectar and pollen from flowers.

Our Monarch Butterflies

Last term Mrs Anderson gave room 9 some monarch caterpillars. We looked after them for 6 weeks. We watched the caterpillars get fatter and fatter and turn into chrysalis. After the holidays our butterflies started to emerge from their chrysalis. We had 17 chrysalis and 16 butterflies emerged. It was a great way to start our minibeast inquiry. We are experts on Monarch Butterflies.

Our 1st post

Welcome to Room 9's blog. This is Harold. He goes home with someone who has done something awesome that day. You might get Harold for doing excellent writing, or for being a good friend. There are many reasons why you could take Harold home.
