This term we are learning how to do gymnastics. We are learning to land safely on the mini tramp. We've been learning how balanece on the beam. You look straight ahead and don't look at your feet. We are also learning how to land. My favourite part was the mini tramp.

Strike By Zoe

On Tuesday, Room 9 went to Strike. We watched three people play the drums, Sam, Tuk and Stephanie. After that they played the rain forest song. We had to follow Sam's actions. We had to clap and click and bang our bodies and hit our laps softly. It was very noisy and I didn't know how to click. At least I could clap and do all the other things. After that song they were going to have a drink. But Sam didn't let the other two people have a drink. They were playing music with the drinks and seeing who gets the orange drink. Tuk got it. At the end, they blew fire on mini fire sticks.

Strikes Performance By James C.

On Tuesday, Strike came and we watched it. We had to clap, click our fingers and stamp our feet to make a rain sound. Then they played the drum kit. They were fast doing it. They did rain music with the marimba. Then they played the fire music with purple poison jars. Then before that they played the Cook Island drum-logs. Zana played the drums with other children. When Miss D played, it was cool.

Week 1, Term 3

We have been looking at Dr Seuss, and have been making our own Dr Seuss art work. We have also been looking at symmetry. Check out our cool symmetry art work. We made them by putting paint blobs on paper and folding it in half and squishing the paint. Some of our art looks like insects, animals and even a tree.

Translation

This week in room 9 we are learning about translation in maths. Transtlation is when a picture or a pattern is repeated, without reflecting it, or turning it. Here are some photos of translation we found around the school.

Our holidays

Welcome back to term 3. We hope you all had a good holiday. Room 9 children had a busy holiday. People went horse riding, fishing, skiing, bush walking, to the library and to the movies. Lots of people had friends over and even went to different cities, like Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
