Group work using Thinking Hats.
Today for our big book activity, we worked in 5 groups. We had a red thinking hat group (feelings) a white thinking hat group, (information) a black thinking hat group (judgements)yellow thinking hat group (benefits) and green thinking hat group (creativity)
We had to come up with different ideas using our thinking hats and big book.
The Feelings in the Great, Big, Enourmous Sneeze, By Asha
I used my red thinking hat and looked at the feelings in the story the Great, Big, Enourmous Sneeze.
The Elephant at the start of the story felt to hot so he kept on sneezing and sneezing because he had a cold.
The Baboon felt nervous and frustrasted because his ears came inside out, so everything sounded really loud.
The Sloth felt very happy because he didn't have to climb down the tree, because sloths are very lazy.
The Parrot felt curious and mad, because she lost her beautiful feathers, they were so beautiful she felt ashamed.
The Elephant felt quite funny at the end of the story because he couldn't breathe propery because he had a leaf around his trunk.

6 Thinking Hats
This week we are working hard, using our 6 thinking hats. We have been using them when we have been reading our big book, "The Great, Big, Enourmous Sneeze." We used our white hat to look at the information, our yellow hat to look at the benefits and the black hat to make judgements. Today we used our Red Thinking hat. We had to look at the feelings of the animals in the story and why they felt that way.

Our Backdrop Designs
Today when we were in the computer suite, we came up with some designs for the backdrop in our scene for production. Our scene is the "Sea of Exploration." We thought it would look like a city. We have used KidPix to draw some cool building that we think would be in our city. We shared them with our star buddy and talked about what we liked about them.
Mason has a walk through chimney. Natalya was proud that she did it all by herself. Caleb like his house on top of a chimney. Jack likes that his looks like pryamids. Lucy thinks her middle building looks like a hammer. Miss Dippie thought they were all amazing! What do you think?
Crocodiles Reading Group!
Today in the Crocodiles reading group, we read a story called Rock Doc. We noticed the title for the story was made to look like it was out of rock. We decided to make some words look like what they are. Look at how we wrote the word FIRE!! We think they look pretty cool!

Production
Production is only 3 weeks away!!!
In Room 9 we have been working hard learning the lyrics to "Ticket to Ride" and "Day Tripper" and our dance to "Day Tripper." We are getting so good, we can almost do the dance without Miss Dippie's help at all. Today Mr O'Regan came down and watched our dance to help get ideas for Room 6's dance. He was amazed that we have learnt a dance in less than a week! We have been working really hard on it though.

Peter and the Wolf
Today the junior and middle classes at Hampden Street walked down to the Theatre Royal and watched Peter and the Wolf. We met Jaz, and she told us all about the show and the Theatre. Then we got to watch some different ballets. They even did a dance to Three Blind Mice. It was funny. Eli got to go up and get his make up done like the old man from Peter and the Wolf. The Peter and the Wolf show was amazing. They had different instruments play for the different characters. Everyone liked the silly duck.

Our Sculpture Walk
On Monday Room 9 walked down to the Museum to do the sculpture walk. We each got a clip board and split into 4 groups of 5. We had to walk around Nelson looking at different sculptures. We looked at the X outside Farmers, the knot outside the information centre, the High Flyers by the river at Riverside Pool, the pattern under the bridge by Tasman Street, and the dogs outside the Chinese gardens. And that was just a few of them. We had different activities to do. We made a reef knot, set a goal and drew pictures of some of the sculptures. After all our walking we had a snack on the Catherdral steps and then walked back to school. We were a bit tired and hungry when we got back. It was a LONG walk.
